THE CITY OF VON ORMY IS TAKING STEPS TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF WEST NILE VIRUS IN OUR COMMUNITY. IF YOU MUST BE OUTDOORS, PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS IN MIND:
Mosquitoes are most active during sunrise and sunset, if possible, avoid being outdoors at this time.
When outside make sure to wear long sleeve shirts and pants.
Use mosquito repellant on exposed parts of body.
Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Drain all pools, bird baths and items which would allow a place for water to sit and collect.
Please report any standing water in the public right away or frontage roads to the City so that steps can be taken to drain and clear the area.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN PROVIDING FOR A SAFER AND HEALTHIER VON ORMY!
HEAT ADVISORY!!! Temperature in the highs ranging from 102 Degrees to 108 Degrees. Heat Index reading will range from 105 Degrees to 110 Degrees.
Impacts: Prolonged exposure to the heat may lead to heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Please take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat Stroke is an EMERGENCY...CALL 911.
