WELCOME to the City of Von Ormy's website. Von Ormy is one of the newest cities in Bexar County and in the State of Texas, and is a growing, vibrant city located in the heart of South Texas. Von Ormy was established in Colonial times as a stop along the Camino Real and was known then as Paso de las Garzas. We are named for Prussian Count Norbert Von Ormay who moved his court to our community in the 1880's. We invite you to learn more about our History, Government & City Planning as Von Ormy continues to focus on improving the present and the future quality of life of its residents.
Von Ormy Voluntary Annexation
The City of Von Ormy recently established an Extra Territorial Jurisdiction of .5 miles surrounding most of the City. For an exact map of the ETJ, please visit the City's map page by clicking here.
Now residents and landowners residing within the ETJ can voluntarily petition to be part of the corporate city limits of Von Ormy and benefit from the municipal services provided by the City. If you are a landowner and are interested in petitioning please click here. If you are a resident of the ETJ, please click here.
For more information regarding the Voluntary Annexation process we invite you to a public hearing to be held on the subject on Wednesday September 28, 2011 at 7 PM at the Parish Hall of Sacred Heart Church. For more information please contact the City Clerk, Julia Hernandez at (210) 449-6788.
